Misti
focuses her practice on commercial, insurance coverage, personal injury, and
property damage litigation in state and federal court.
Misti also has experience with representing clients in
copyright and trademark matters, as well as trade secrets and
general unfair competition litigation.
She has prosecuted trademark applications in the U.S. Patent
& Trademark Office on behalf of her clients and represented them in
adversary proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Misti served as
elected Criminal District Attorney for
Newton
County from 2007 through
2010 and Assistant Criminal District Attorney from 2003 through
2007. During her term,
she gained extensive courtroom experience as well as experience in
representing governmental entities and agencies in business
transactions and litigation.
While serving as Criminal
District Attorney, Misti represented
Newton
County in its endeavor to
restore its historical courthouse that fell victim to fire in 2000.
Through this representation, Misti gained knowledge in
construction law as well as experience in collaborating with the
Texas Historical Commission.
Misti graduated
from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2001, where she served
as Business Manager for the Texas Tech Law Review and was elected as
class representative to the Student Bar Association.
She received the Dean’s Executive Award for outstanding
leadership and service to the Law Review in 2001.
Misti graduated from McNeese State
University in 1998, where
she received a bachelor of science degree in mass communication and
was a member of the Pride of McNeese Marching Band.
Misti is a member of
the Newton County Chamber of Commerce, for which she served as
Treasurer from 2006 through 2010.
She is also a volunteer grant writer for the Newton County
Historical Commission.
Misti practices primarily in the firm's office in
Silsbee.
