Beaumont, Texas stakes its claim to nearly 90 square miles of the Lone Star State’s beautiful coastal plain.  Located 30 miles inland from the pristine Gulf of Mexico beaches, Beaumont lies within the vibrant Port Arthur metro area. Beaumont is the seat of Jefferson County.  Together, Beaumont, Orange and Port Arthur form the Golden Triangle, one of the Gulf Coast’s premier industrial regions.  In 1901, Beaumont, Texas experienced an overnight growth surge when an oil gusher blew in at Spindletop.  Today, the Beaumont area remains one of the most significant petrochemical and refining centers on the planet.  Lamar University also contributes to the community’s resources through its swiftly developing core of research centers.  Industrial equipment and medical instruments play a major role in the burgeoning economy, with numerous residents employed in back office service centers, various medical industry professions and U.S. Postal Encoding Centers. Top employers in Beaumont, TX include Beaumont Independent School District, Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and ExxonMobil Petrochemical.

The nearly 500,000 residents that call the greater Beaumont area home have access to a sophisticated infrastructure that includes interstate highways, comprehensive railway systems, the Port of Beaumont and two airports: the Beaumont Municipal Airport and the Southeast Texas Regional Airport.  Beaumont, TX lies along the Amtrak route at the convergence of Interstate 10 and several highways.  Louisiana is a half-hour drive away, while Houston is an hour and a half away.

Beaumont is full of activities that range from rodeos to dance halls. Beaumont, Texas offers an ecotourism utopia with its swamp tours of the lush Sabine River Basin Outback and the lovely Big Thicket Preserve.  Lamar University provides various year-round Cardinal sporting events, and local teams such as the Texas Wildcatters hockey team entertain the public in season.  This dynamic community offers two-step dancing and Zydeco at places such as Crockett Street’s Dixie Dance Hall, while various restaurants serve local treats that include barbecued crabs and spicy hot boiled crawfish.

Several authentic sites represent the heritage of Beaumont, TX.  These include the Thomas Alva Edison Museum, the McFaddin-Ward House, Spindletop Gladys City, the Texas Energy Museum and the Fire Museum of Texas, home to the world’s largest fire hydrant.  Other sites of interest in Beaumont include the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont Botanical Gardens, Dishman Art Gallery and Ford Park.  Beaumont, TX also boasts two of the regions finest entertainment venues, the historic Julie Rogers and Jefferson theaters.
