Jack's
principal areas of practice are personal injury, consumer, class
action, and commercial litigation. He represents major oil and
chemical companies, national product manufacturers, and national
service companies. Jack has served as lead trial counsel on
multi-million dollar claims and has significant trial experience in
defending clients in state court, federal court, and before state and
federal administrative agencies. Jack has extensive experience both
defending and prosecuting class action litigation in both state and
federal court. Jack is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is Board
Certified in Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal
Specialization.
Jack's representative experience includes:
- Representing major international oil refining company and
major international chemical company in investigation and defense
of over 100 wrongful death and major personal injury suits filed
in state and federal courts and agencies.
- Representing national product manufacturers and retailers
on wrongful death and other major personal injury suits in various
types of product liability litigation.
- Representing companies in the defense and investigation of
wrongful death claims in industrial accident-related fatalities
and consumer product-related fatalities.
- Representing companies in toxic tort, class action, and
neighborhood emission claims (some claims consisting of several
thousand claimants).
- Representing companies in class action litigation in the
following areas: oil and gas, personal injury toxic exposure,
consumer warranty, and tobacco litigation.
- Representing claimants in one of the largest consumer
class action settlements in United States litigation history.
Shaw, et al v. Toshiba, et al, Cause No. 1:99-CV-120, in the
United States District Court, Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont
Division. Has represented claimants in other computer and
commercial litigation.
- Representing companies in many types of commercial
litigation, including disputes between companies, shareholder
fraud, and contractual disputes.
- Representing attorneys and other non-medical professionals
in negligence and malpractice claims, including claims for
misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duty.
Jack earned his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law in 1990.
He was awarded the Matt Dawson Trial Advocacy Award - Best Trial
Advocate. He was also a member in Baylor University Practice Court
Team, National Order of Barristers, ATLA Mock Trial Team, ABA Moot
Court Team, Baylor Order of Barristers, and earned the Baylor ABA Moot
Court Award. Jack earned his B.B.A. degree in Accounting from Baylor
University in 1984.
Jack is a member of the State Bar of Texas' Litigation and Consumer
Law Sections. Jack practices primarily in the firm's office in
