Chris McKinney
is a trial lawyer. He has served as counsel in a wide range of
matters, including insurance coverage, commercial litigation,
property damage, premises liability, products liability,
transportation, personal injury, wrongful death, employment
litigation and appeals.
Chris is admitted to
practice in all Texas trial courts and appellate courts.
He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts
for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
Chris is currently
serving as President of the Jefferson County Young Lawyers
Association (“JCYLA”). He also serves on the Jefferson County
Bar Association board of directors. He has previously served
as JCYLA Vice President, Treasurer and director.
Chris is also
President of the Evelyn M. Lord Teen Court Board, which oversees a
program in which first-time juvenile offenders between the ages of
10 and 16 are given an opportunity to defer adjudication of their
offenses after they appear before a jury of their peers.
In addition, Chris is
a member of several professional organizations, including the
Michelle F. Mehaffy Inn of Court, the Defense Research Institute
(Lawyers’ Professionalism and Ethics Committee and Young Lawyers’
Committee), the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and the Texas
Young Lawyers Association.
Chris graduated from
the University of Kentucky
in 2002, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with
a major in Business Management. Chris received his Juris Doctor cum
laude from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in
2005. While in law school, Chris served as the Executive Director
of the Moot Court Board and as an Articles Editor for the
International Law Review Association, which publishes The
International Lawyer and Law & Business Review of the Americas.
Chris practices primarily in the firm's office in
Beaumont.
