Kelly Donaldson has practiced construction law
since 1986. Mr. Donaldson advises clients who

develop and construct all manner of projects
including
industrial, marine, public works &
infrastructure, pipeline, commercial,
manufacturing, highway, utility, single family
and multi family residential projects. From project
planning through bidding, construction and
project start-up, Mr. Donaldson assists clients
from start to finish.

Contract documents that are practical and complete
are critical to a successful project.Mr. Donaldson
drafts and reviews contract documents
for
construction projects. His experience allows Mr.
Donaldson to negotiate contracts that are workable
and fair.

Dispute resolution is an integral part of Mr. Donaldson’s
construction practice, including the use of experts and
neutrals to resolve technical issues, mediation, arbitration
and litigation. Mr. Donaldson has experience with bid
protests,
defective design and construction claims, claims
for delay
and disruption, scope of work claims including
extra and additional work, mechanic’s and material men’s
liens, surety bond claims, contractor default and project
completion.

Mr. Donaldson assists clients in successfully resolving disputes on their construction projects while maintaining business relationships.

Mr. Donaldson is admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, and before the Fifth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. Mr. Donaldson has also arbitrated cases before the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Donaldson was born in Beaumont, Texas in 1957. He received a B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University in 1979, and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1986.

Mr. Donaldson is a member of the American Bar Association Forum Committee on the Construction Industry, and a member of the Construction Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.

He is a member of the Construction Section of the State Bar of Texas and the Construction Section of the Houston Bar Association, and also served on the governing council of both organizations.

Mr. Donaldson has been a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors and the Associated General Contractors for many years. He routinely presents seminars and articles to industry groups and industry publications.

Mr. Donaldson has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America (2012) in construction-surety law. He has also been recognized as a Superlawyer (2009, 2010, 2011) in construction-surety law.
