| The law practice of Orgain, Bell &
Tucker can be traced to the turn of the century. One of the firm’s
early letterheads goes back to 1913, but William Edmund Orgain began
the practice of law in Beaumont in 1907. A native of Bastrop, Mr.
Orgain was educated at the University of Texas and served as Texas
State Representative of Bastrop County before moving to Beaumont.
Land litigation on the heels of Spindletop brought him to Beaumont.
Mr. Orgain became even more deeply involved in the legal matters
arising out of the second big oil discovery at Spindletop in 1925.
This business climate presented great opportunities for him to build
a solid, important legal practice, and it still exists today. Mr.
Orgain served on the Texas Supreme Court committee that wrote the
original Texas Rules of Civil Procedure in 1941.
In 1925, Major T. Bell joined Mr. Orgain, and John G. Tucker came
in 1933. The firm has carried their names and philosophy ever since.
The push for excellence is ever present. New firm lawyers are
consistently excellent students and writers on their law school
journals.
Following the example of Major Bell’s service as President of the
State Bar of Texas in 1942, Orgain, Bell & Tucker lawyers today are
involved in local, state, and national bar service, many at
leadership levels. Most are board certified legal specialists.
