Southeast Texas Legends-Gilbert I. “Buddy” Low
Scholarship, joined by representatives of the
Beaumont Foundation of America.
Buddy Low
was born in tiny Geneva, Texas where he grew up
in a house with no running water or electricity.
His earliest education was in a two-room country
schoolhouse. From these modest beginnings, Low
became one of the most prominent attorneys in
Texas representing such notable clients as T.
Boone Pickens, Warren Buffet and General Motors
Corp.
The
honoree was chairman of the Texas Supreme Court
Professional Ethics Committee for more than
25 years and is currently
vice-chairman of the Texas Supreme Court
Advisory Committee. He is a former president of
the Jefferson County Bar Association and is a
fellow of the International Society of
Barristers, the International Academy of Trial
Lawyers and the American Board of Trial
Advocates. In 1999, Texas Lawyer magazine named
him the Best Plaintiffs Lawyer as well as Best
Defense Lawyer in Beaumont. He has been selected
as a Texas Super Lawyer each year from 2003-2009
by Super Lawyer magazine.
