Greg is a
trial lawyer with a concentration in insurance
coverage, personal injury, wrongful death, transportation,
and commercial litigation. Greg’s representative experience
includes:
Ø
Served as trial counsel in jury trials to verdict in cases involving
insurance coverage, personal injury and wrongful death,
transportation litigation, premises liability, products liability,
and medical malpractice.
Ø
Serves as lead trial counsel or insurance coverage counsel in
matters pending throughout Texas.
Ø
Served as insurance coverage counsel in dozens of cases involving
wrongful death, catastrophic injury, transportation, professional liability,
products liability, premises liability, construction, and commercial disputes in
which global settlements of both the underlying claims and the
coverage disputes were obtained on behalf of the firm’s clients.
Ø
Served as appellate counsel in the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts
of Appeal, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Beaumont, Amarillo,
Texas, and Waco Courts of Appeals.
Ø
Serves as statewide coordinating insurance coverage counsel in Texas
for a national insurer's commercial general liability coverage
line.
Ø
Serves as statewide coordinating coverage counsel in Texas for a
national insurer’s occupational loss insurance program.
Greg has served as a
member of the State Bar of Texas standing committee on Pattern Jury
Charges – General Negligence and Intentional Personal Torts
since 2005.
Greg has been
named a Texas Rising Star in the area of insurance coverage by
Texas Monthly and Law & Politics every year since 2004.
Greg is a
frequent author and speaker on continuing legal education topics
including the Stowers doctrine, insurance coverage for
transportation litigation claims, insurance underwriting and claims
handling practices, Chapter 542 (formerly Article 21.55) of the
Texas Insurance Code, Texas jury charge submissions, the Texas
Lawyer’s Creed and other ethical considerations applicable to the
modern legal professional, and the exercise of personal
jurisdiction over out-of-state defendants by Texas courts.
Greg is
admitted to practice in all state trial and appellate courts in
Texas, the Eastern, Northern, Western, and Southern Districts of Texas, and
the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Greg graduated
magna cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1996. At
Texas Tech, Greg was a Comment Editor of the Texas Tech Law Review
and a member of the Order of the Coif. He graduated cum laude from
the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1992.
Greg is a member of the American Bar
Association, the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of
Texas, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Jefferson County
Young Lawyers Association, the Michelle F. Mehaffy American Inn of
Court, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense
Research Institute, the Texas Motor Transportation
Association, and the Transportation Lawyers Association. He
is also the firm’s representative to the USLAW Network.
Greg practices primarily in the firm’s
office in Beaumont.
